School uniform

Saint Denis Middle School requires the wearing of school uniform, which promotes a sense of belonging for students and creates a positive identity for the school community.

School uniforms contribute to the personal safety of students by allowing easier recognition of students outside the school location.

For this reason, students are expected to wear the uniform during school hours, while travelling to and from school, and when engaged in school activities out of the school building.

Subject based classrooms

Saint Denis Middle School opts for the organization of school rooms into thematic classrooms: each classroom is dedicated to a specific subject and the teacher who teaches that subject occupies that classroom.

Students move from one classroom to another according to the scheduled lessons.

Among the main advantages compared  a more traditional school classroom organization:

  1. the possibility of finding in each classroom all the necessary and specific equipment and material for that lesson;
  2. the opportunity to change the learning environment, moving from one classroom to another, thus improving students' attention, concentration and organizational skills;
  3. the propensity to develop respect for shared spaces, materials and furnishings, to stimulate a sense of responsibility and improve time management skills.
